Spiteful, uncompromising Black Metal from two of the harshest bands in Black Metal. Axis of Light corrupted the listener with their demo, 'By the Hands of the Consuming Fire' (released on Mordgrimm), and Death Fortress unleashed a furious assault on their self titled tape (released by Mordgrimm and Fallen Empire). Following both bands' appearance on the SVN OKKLT double cassette compilation, they now combine their pandemonic utterences for this split tape release.
By the sound of it, this was recorded on a long-distance call during an electric storm, on a circular saw. A masterpiece, unparalleled. Every track reaches into your soul and crushes a part of you. baumanno
Some of the best cosmic black metal I've heard. Mare Cognitum continues to prove themselves to be masters of crafting a vast, celstial soundscape, and the Lovecraft-esque atmosphere present throughout Aureole's half definitely made me want to check out the rest of their discography. honeycombguy
I was able to get this on vinyl, and bought it again here because it's just that good. Axis of Light creates such inexplicably majestic, harsh black metal. Every album is worth picking up. Drymonema
